Application Process Overview

Step One - Grinnell Approval to Study Off Campus
ApplicationThe application will open in September for applications for the following academic year. Read Apply for Grinnell Approval and the OCS Pre-Application Checklist before you begin the application online. Begin preparing application components early so that you have time to schedule meetings with advisers. Select your first choice program and use the "Apply Now" button, logging in with your Grinnell College login credentials. Submit only one application.
Every student is required to:
- Attend the OCS Information Session on September 4, 2019 HSSC @3325 at 4 pm - 5:30 pm or at 7 pm - 8:30 pm. If you are unable to attend these sessions you will have to attend an OCS 101 session with a Global Envoy student advisor.
- Meet with an OCS staff member as part of the application process. Applications can not be submitted without a meeting.
Due DateRolling admissions for approval begin September 24, 2019.
Early deadline is December 5, 2019. There are programs with January deadlines.
Deadline: February 1, 2020.
Note: Grinnell-in-London has a one step direct online application due on February 1, 2020 (Grinnell-in-Washington operations suspended.)
Step Two - Direct Program Application After Grinnell Approval
After you receive approval from Grinnell to study off campus, apply directly to the program for which you have been approved as soon as possible. Program websites provide online or paper applications and instructions.
Program dependent. Note: You will need to provide the official program application due date in your application to Grinnell. Due dates can be found on program websites; use this year's deadlines if your term's deadline has not yet been posted.
- Fall semester program due dates are usually in March or April.
- Spring semester program due dates are usually in September or October.
