Application Process Overview
Step One - Grinnell Approval to Study Off Campus
ApplicationThe application process will open during Fall Break for applications for the next year. Read Apply for Grinnell Approval before you begin the application online. Begin preparing the application components early enough so that you have time to schedule meetings with advisers. Complete the OCS Pre-Application Checklist before you begin an application online. Select your first choice program and use the Apply Now button. Use your Grinnell College login credentials. Submit only one application. You will be asked to indicate your second choices in your application.
Due DateApplications close on December 5, 2017.
Note: Grinnell in London (Grinnell in Washington operations suspended for Fall 2016 and 2017) has a one step direct online application due on February 1, 2018.
Notifications of application status will be sent mid-February.
Step Two - Direct Program Application After Grinnell Approval
After you receive approval from Grinnell to study off campus, you apply directly to the program for which you have been approved. Program websites provide online or paper applications and instructions.
Program dependent. A date will be provided to you by the OCS Office in your approval notification. The date is typically set earlier than the published program deadline to give you an advantage in the rolling admission process. Note: You will need to provide the official program application due date in your application to Grinnell. Due dates can be found on program websites.
- Fall semester program due dates are usually in March or April.
- Spring semester program due dates are usually in September or October.
